Celebrate Your Independence and National Grilling Month


Using propane is a great way to declare independence from high electric and oil bills. With Independence Day quickly coming our way, there is no more appropriate month to use that propane-fueled grill to celebrate as July is National Grilling Month.

Summer is the most popular time for outdoor cooking, so it makes sense that July is National Grilling Month. We’ll be firing up our propane-fueled barbecues to cook up some juicy hamburgers, sausages, chicken, ribs and hot dogs. If you haven’t done so already, give us a buzz to make sure you’re set up to enjoy all the festivities.

Not only is it National Grilling Month, but July is also perfectly designated as the national month for other yummy foods such as hot dogs, baked beans, horseradish, pickles, blueberries, and ice cream. Some of those you can cook up with your Liberty Gas-fueled grill, while others we wouldn’t recommend as it would just result in a big, sticky mess! But they are all great additions to a BBQ or picnic, so it’s no surprise that July is also National Picnic Month.  

As you get ready to celebrate with your propane-fueled grill, remember these food safety tips:

  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when you are grilling.
  • Keep food cold until it is ready to hit the BBQ. Bacteria will grow if you let it sit too long.
  • Don’t mix raw and cooked foods. Once cooked, use a clean dish to present your scrumptious work, as bacteria from raw food could contaminate the fresh.
  • Keep hot food warm to at least 140 degrees until ready to be placed in a cooler with ice or in a refrigerator to prevent bacteria growth. For salads and cold foods, keep them chilled on ice.

And here are some fun facts to help you hot dog fans appreciate this American classic during its special month.

  • Joey Chestnut currently holds the world record in hot dog eating by eating 73 1/2 hot dogs (and buns) in 10 minutes during a qualifying event for the 2017 Nathan’s Famous contest.
  • The Tokyo Dog food truck located in Seattle, WA has the record for the most expensive hot dog, costing $169
  • The longest hot dog on record, made by Novex SA of Paraguay in 2011, is 668 ft. and 7.62 in. (203.80m.)
